The Work I Do (and Why It Exists)
Most of what I build comes from the same place, watching creative people hit walls they shouldn’t have to hit. The tools, labs, and cohorts below all exist because I wanted to make the process of creating, earning, and evolving a little more doable.
I’ve lived that cycle myself: chasing projects, rebuilding from scratch, and learning how to bridge creative energy with real strategy. Everything here grew out of that experience, practical ways to keep moving forward without losing what makes the work worth doing.
Strategy Coaching
I help mid-career creatives and creative-adjacent professionals get clarity in their business and their next chapter. Most of my clients already have skills, experience, and a body of work, but feel stuck, scattered, or unsure where their real opportunities are.
In a focused 90-minute strategy session, we map out what’s working, what isn’t, and what actually moves your creative career forward. You’ll leave with a clear focus, a simple 90-day plan, and a set of next steps that fit your real life, not theory. No fluff, no hype. Just perspective, strategy, and direction you can use immediately.
The Hungry Artist Cohort
In this 4-week live cohort, you’ll work with me and a small group of creators to take a clearer look at the emotional, relational, strategic, and practical parts of your creative career, so you can finally see what’s blocking your momentum and what actually creates opportunity in your creative business.
It's hard to know what to focus on, what to adjust, and what to let go. You're putting in the effort. You're showing up. You care. But you still feel stuck. Most creators aren’t lacking discipline or talent.
You may just lacking a clear way to understand which part of their creative career is actually holding you back.
The idea that if you want to be an artist then you will starve is, well, bullsh**
You do not need to be famous, live in a big city, or wait for some mythical big break to build a real creative career.
A starving artist is a story other people tell you about your life.
A hungry artist is the story you decide to live out anyway.
With this book, I want to help you see how your creative life is also an entrepreneurial life. When you learn to merge those two, you will not be a starving artist. You will be a hungry artist, filled with creative joy and financial sustainability that lets you live in that joy.

Tyler M. Reid
I help professionals in the creative industries think clearly and make better decisions. Most of my work sits at the intersection of strategy and creativity, helping investors, executives, producers, and analysts sort through complexity so they can focus on what actually matters.
For twenty years, my career has been one long experiment, moving between film, writing, teaching, producing, and consulting. I’ve learned that the medium changes, but the work doesn’t. It’s always about taking an idea, giving it shape, and staying with it long enough for it to become real.
I’ve worked on feature films, music videos, documentaries, and live events across the U.S., India, and Sweden. Some projects came with resources, others survived on stubbornness and problem solving. Every one of them taught me something about process, people, and the quiet, unglamorous work that makes creative projects possible.
That mix of curiosity and practicality shapes everything I do now. Whether I’m helping someone develop a film, clarify their direction, or rethink how they talk about their work, the goal is the same, help them get to the next clear step without losing the joy that made them start in the first place.

Clarity isn’t always a one-time thing. As your direction starts to shift, it helps to have a space to come back to, a place where you can check in, sort through new ideas, and figure out what’s actually changing. That’s what these sessions are for, whether you’re a filmmaker, creative, author, or a creative entrepreneur who’s built something that no longer fits the way it used to.
Maybe your last project wrapped and you’re not sure what comes next. Maybe you’ve grown in a new direction but your work hasn’t caught up yet. Or maybe you just need someone outside your usual circle to help you think out loud and make sense of what’s pulling at you.
We’ll talk through what’s shifting, what’s still true, and what feels aligned as you move forward. And if it makes sense to continue, we’ll figure out the rhythm that fits, whether it’s a follow up next month or a check in later when things evolve again. The point is simple, giving you support while you keep changing, building, and moving into whatever comes next.
